Predicting the Detonation Velocity of CHNO Explosives by a Simple Method

چکیده

A simplified method is shown, based on a semi-empirical procedure, to estimate the detonation velocities of CHNO explosives at various loading densities. It is assumed that the product composition consists almost of CO, CO2, H2O and N2 for oxygen-rich explosives. In addition solid carbon and H2 are also counted for an oxygen-lean explosive. The approximate detonation temperature, as a second needed parameter, can be calculated from the total heat capacity of the detonation products and the heat of formation of the explosive by PM3 procedure. The detonation velocities of some well-known CHNO explosives, calculated by the simple procedure, fit well with measured detonation velocities and the results from the well-established BKW-EOS computer code.

Determination of BKW Equation of State Parameters via Measurement of the Detonation Velocity in Condensed Explosives

An optical system has been redesigned and used to measure detonation velocity as a function of condensed explosive density for RDX, HMX, PETN. These measurements are then used to determine and fine tune parameters appearing in the BKW (Beker-Kistiakowsky-Wilson) equation of state for gases at extremely high pressures. Steady state form of conservation equations along with the BKW state equation...

Determination of the Parameters in HOM and BKW Equations of State for Detonation Products

One of the basic equations to analyze the detonation of high explosives is the equation of state of the detonation products. Due to the very high pressure of the product, the direct measurement of the thermodynamic variables such as pressure or temperature is not possible. In this research, the parameters of BKW and HOM equations of state of detonation products are determined via experimental m...

Estimation of Velocity and Detonation Pressure of some High Energy Compounds using Kamlet Method based on Kistiakowski-Wilson Rules

In the present study, the heat of detonation of high energy compounds with CaHbNcOd  formula was obtained according to Kistiakowski-Wilson rules. Comparison of these results with experimental date, group additivity method and Kamlet method shows that the values of heat detonation based on the Kistiakowski-Wilson rules are more accurate. In the following, the values of detonation velocity and de...
